Migrate Sync Profiles to a Different Org
With the new Sync Profile Manager Admin Tool, you can manually migrate a sync profile to a different org. You can either migrate a single sync profile or bulk migrate multiple sync profiles.
Migrating a sync profile from one org to another is a manual process. Only one sync profile can be transferred at the time.
Sync profiles are stored as a static resource file.
Follow these sections in order to migrate a sync profile:
Find and Copy the Sync Profile’s Static Resource File
-
In the org’s Setup, use the Quick Find box and enter
static. -
Select Static Resources under Custom Code.
-
At the Static Resources list, find the entry for the sync profile.
The entry begins with Sync_Download_Settings followed by the name of the sync profile.
-
Click into the sync profile.
-
Under Size click on View File.
A new tab opens up showing code for the sync profile.
-
Select and copy all the text.
Log Into Destination Org
Once the text of the sync profile has been copied, log into the destination org where the sync profile will reside.
-
Log into the org.
-
Select Static Resources under Custom Code.
-
At the Static Resources list, click New.
-
Follow the steps in Set up the New Static Resource file.
-
Create a new text file and name it
Sync_Download_Settings_<profile name>. -
Paste in text you copied above and then save the file as a JSON type.
-
Click File and then Choose File.
-
Navigate and select the text file you had created.
-
Click Save.
The new sync profile appears in the Sync Profile Manager in the new org.
Migrate Layouts
An object’s page layouts can’t be exported from one org and then imported into another org. If you have a custom page layout, it must be recreated in the new org.
