Times & Time Zones

Introduction

Avoid confusion about times and time zones by remembering the following rules.

Set Dates/Times

When you set a Date/Time value, that value gets set based on the Time Zone selected in your user record.

If you have Central Standard Time selected as your Time Zone and set 6/1/2020 11:00 AM as the value in a Date/Time field, this value gets set as GMT-06:00.

When you select Now in a Date/Time field, this inserts the current date/time on your device.

View Dates/Times

When you view a record:

  • Date/Time values display based on the Time Zone selected in your user record.

    Chris has Central Standard Time selected as his Time Zone.

    When Chris views records, Date/Time values display as GMT-06:00.

    Steve has Pacific Standard Time selected as his Time Zone.

    When Steve views records, Date/Time values display as GMT-08:00, including values in records added by Chris.

Date/Time values don’t display based on your device’s current date/time.
