UNSPSC Taxonomy
The United Nations Standard Products and Services Code is an internationally recognized classification system for goods and services. Some organizations may require them, but they aren’t mandatory. If your organization or customer integrates with an Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) or procurement system that relies on UNSPSC codes (like SAP or Oracle), you can map those codes to your FieldFX items.
The specification calls for four hierarchical levels, each having its own 2 digit code, with the complete code number being 8 digits:
Level | 2-digit code | Description |
---|---|---|
Segment |
XX000000 |
A logical aggregation of families useful for analyzing trends. |
Family |
XXYY0000 |
A related group of class categories. |
Class |
XXYYZZ00 |
A group of commodities with common characteristics, but not necessarily interchangeable with each other |
Commodity |
XXYYZZAA |
A group of interchangeable items |
After loading the UNSPSC matrix to the four tables representing each level of classification, assign codes to Catalog Items.
