Manage Work Task Steps in the FieldFX Mobile App

Use Work Task Steps in the FieldFX Mobile App to manage the individual actions required to complete a work task. Depending on your configuration and permissions, you may be able to view, create, edit, copy, or delete work task steps. Work task steps are associated with a specific work task and are managed from within that work task.

Prerequisites

Before managing work task steps:

  • The Work Order module must be available in the FieldFX Mobile App.

  • Work Tasks and Work Task Steps must be configured for the mobile app through sync profile configuration.

  • The Work Task Step object must be included in the React Native sync profile.

  • Appropriate security permissions must be assigned for creating, editing, copying, or deleting work task steps.

Step-by-Step Guide

  1. Open the FieldFX Mobile App.

  2. Open a work order.

  3. Select the work task for which you want to manage steps.

  4. Open the list of work task steps for the selected work task.

  5. To create a new step, tap the Add (+) button and fill in the required fields.

    • Enter values for the required fields.

    • Validation rules and required fields are enforced when saving changes.

  6. To edit steps in bulk, tap Edit to enter grid edit mode.

    • Work task steps can be edited individually or through grid-edit mode.

  7. To copy or delete steps, tap Select, choose the steps, and then tap Copy or Delete.

    • Validation rules, required fields, and field updates are applied during create and edit operations.

  8. Save your changes.

Notes

The Work Task Step object must be included in the React Native sync profile before users can access work task steps on mobile

  • The fields displayed in step grids and step forms are controlled by mobile configuration and sync profile settings

  • Administrators can configure the fields displayed in work task step grids and create/edit forms through sync profile layouts

  • Editable and read-only fields are determined by configuration

  • Validation rules and field updates configured in the back office are enforced on mobile

  • Work task steps are associated with individual work tasks and are managed from within the selected work task

There is no out-of-the-box work task step completion workflow. If users see a Complete, Status, or similar field, it was added through administrator configuration and is not provided by default.

Customers can configure custom status or completion-tracking fields if desired.

  • Offline synchronization behavior for work task steps follows the standard React Native sync model. No work-task-step-specific sync behavior differs from the general sync configuration
