Manage Work Tasks in the FieldFX Mobile App

Use the Work Tasks feature in the FieldFX Mobile App to view and manage work tasks associated with a work order. Depending on your configuration and permissions, you may be able to create, edit, copy, or delete work tasks.

Prerequisites

Before managing work tasks:

  • The Work Order module must be available in the FieldFX Mobile App

  • The Work Task and Work Task Step objects must be included in the React Native sync profile

  • Appropriate security permissions must be assigned for creating, editing, copying, or deleting work tasks

Step by Step Guide

  1. Open the FieldFX Mobile App.

  2. Navigate to the desired work order.

  3. Access the list of work tasks associated with the work order.

  4. Select a work task to view its details.

  5. To create a new work task, tap the Add (+) button and fill in the required fields.

  6. To edit work tasks in bulk, tap Edit to enter grid edit mode. You can modify fields directly in the grid.

  7. To copy or delete work tasks, tap Select, choose the work tasks, and then tap Copy or Delete.

  8. Save your changes.

Validation rules, required fields, and field updates are enforced during create and edit operations.

Task Labor

You can create labor (task labor) records directly from a work task to track time spent on that task by individual mechanics.

  • To create a labor record from a work task, open the work task and use the Add action in the Labor section.

  • Labor records created from a work task maintain a reference back to that work task record.

  • Only labor records created from a work task are visible from the work task record.

  • All labor records associated with a work order — including those created from individual work tasks — are visible from the work order record.

For more information, see Manage Task Labor in the FieldFX Mobile App.

Notes

The Work Task Step object must be included in the React Native sync profile before users can access work task steps on mobile

  • The fields displayed in task grids and task forms are controlled by mobile configuration and sync profile settings

  • Administrators can configure the fields displayed in work task grids and create/edit forms through sync profile layouts

  • Validation rules, required fields, and field updates configured in the back office are enforced on mobile

  • Editable and read-only fields are determined by configuration

  • Validation rules and field updates are applied during create and edit operations

There is no out-of-the-box work task step completion workflow. If users see a Complete, Status, or similar field, it was added through administrator configuration and is not provided by default.

Customers can configure custom status or completion-tracking fields if desired.

  • Offline synchronization behavior for work task steps follows the standard React Native sync model. No work-task-step-specific sync behavior differs from the general sync configuration
