Sync Configuration Manager Tool (FX26R1)

The Sync Configuration Manager in FieldFX FX26R1 extends the Sync Profile Manager by introducing a new way to assign and control mobile data synchronization for FieldFX Mobile users.

This model separates profile configuration from data assignment, enabling more flexible, scalable, and targeted control over what data is synced to mobile devices.

Overview

In FX26R1, mobile sync configuration is managed through three components:

  • Sync Profile Manager — Defines what data and features are available to mobile users.

  • Sync Configurations — Assigns data access to users based on criteria.

  • SyncLink — Stores the relationships created by sync configurations.

This approach replaces earlier limitations by enabling dynamic assignment and broader support for multiple objects, including Work Orders.

Sync Profiles (Capability)

Sync profiles define the scope of data and functionality available to mobile users, including:

  • Objects and fields available for sync

  • Enabled modules (for example, Work Orders)

  • Layouts and mobile UI configuration

  • Landing page behavior

Sync profiles are created and managed in the Sync Profile Manager.

Sync Configurations (Assignment)

Sync configurations determine which users receive specific data based on defined criteria.

Administrators can create configurations that:

  • Assign data access to one or more users

  • Apply filters using standard or custom fields

  • Control when access is active using effective and expiration dates

SyncLink (Data Model)

Sync configurations create SyncLink records, which define relationships between users and synced data.

SyncLink replaces earlier limitations of Sync Assignment and supports:

  • Multiple object types (Jobs, Work Orders, Price Books)

  • Flexible relationships across entities

How Sync Configuration Works

Use Sync Profile Manager to define the structure of mobile data, then use sync configurations to assign that data to users.

General workflow:

  1. Create or update a sync profile in Sync Profile Manager.

  2. Configure objects, fields, layouts, and modules.

  3. Create a sync configuration to assign data to users.

  4. Define criteria that determines what records are synced.

  5. Apply optional effective and expiration dates.

  6. Save the configuration to create SyncLink records.

All configuration is managed centrally, reducing the need to configure multiple areas in Salesforce.

Configuration Capabilities

The Sync Configuration Manager supports the following capabilities:

User Selection

  • Select users individually or by filter

  • Filter users by attributes such as Office or other fields

Criteria-Based Data Access

  • Use standard fields (Account, Office, Segment)

  • Use custom fields when API names match between objects

Time-Based Access

  • Set an effective date for when access begins

  • Set an expiration date for when access ends

This supports temporary assignments such as short-term project access or regional assignments.

Multi-Object Support

Create configurations for:

  • Jobs

  • Price Books

  • Work Orders

Preview Before Creation

  • Review a preview of the configuration before saving

Relationship to Sync Profile Wizard

The Sync Configuration Manager replaces key functionality previously handled by legacy tools.

When to Use Sync Configuration Manager

Use the Sync Configuration Manager when you need to:

  • Configure access to Work Orders in mobile

  • Simplify and centralize mobile sync configuration

The Sync Configuration Manager is a Lightning Web Component (LWC) that must be added manually to a Lightning page. It is not included on the FieldFX Admin Dashboard by default. For admins, add the page for quick access.
