Inline Help Setup

Prerequisites

To set up inline help, you need the following permissions:

  • Minimum permissions for the FieldFX modules you are using

  • System permissions:

    • Customize Application

    • View Setup and Configuration

Basics

The Inline Help feature displays help text for fields.

Use the Inline Help feature to provide guidance for users when they complete fields.

Add inline help for fields on FX Forms so that users know how to complete forms correctly.

How it Works

FieldFX Back Office

Inline help displays hidden by default in FieldFX Back Office.

Move the mouse over the ? icon to display inline help for that field.

Setting Up the Inline Help Feature

  1. Access FieldFX Back Office

  2. Switch to Salesforce Classic

  3. From Setup, enter "custom setting" in the Quick Find box, then select Custom Settings

  4. Click FX Settings

  5. Under Custom Fields, click New

  6. Complete the following:

    1. Select the Text data type

    2. Click Next

    3. In Field Label, enter "Force Inline Help"

    4. In Length, enter "255"

    5. Click Next

    6. Click Save

  7. Click Manage at the top of the page

  8. Click Edit

  9. In Force Inline Help, enter the API names of objects for which to display inline help in FieldFX Mobile

    Use commas to separate the values.

    • Enter FX5__Job__c, FX5__Ticket__c to display inline help for job and ticket fields.

    • Enter JSA__c to display inline help for fields on the "JSA" FX Form.

  10. Click Save

Defining Inline Help for a Field

  1. Access FieldFX Back Office

  2. Switch to Salesforce Classic

  3. Open the Settings page for the object

  4. Under Custom Fields & Relationships, click Edit next to the field

  5. In Help Text, enter inline help for the field

  6. Click Save
