Catalog Organization

Basics

FX EAM provides a way to label, categorize, and define catalog items.

  • Divide the catalog into groups called Nouns.

  • Further divide Noun groups into sections with Modifiers.

Instead of Nouns and Modifiers, the catalog can use UNSPSC codes.

Those codes are standardized and provide four levels of classification instead of two.

Nouns

Nouns are a top level classification grouping.

Creating Nouns

  1. Add a [New] record to the Noun object

  2. Make the following entries in Information:

    • Noun: Label for the classification

    • Description: Human readable description of the class

    • Search: Leave the default of "noun"

  3. Save or Save & New

Modifiers

Modifiers are sections of a Noun grouping.

For example, Noun is Tool, modifier is Electric Drill.

Create Modifiers

  1. Add a [New] record to the Modifier object

  2. Make the following entries in Information:

    • Modifier (required): Label for the section

    • Description: Human readable description of the section

    • Noun: The Noun class the modifier section belongs to

    • Search: Leave the default of "mod"

  3. Save or Save & New
