Basics

FXL Data Grid is a versatile record management tool in FieldFX Back Office when using Lightning Experience.

FXL Data Grid can be set up by your system administrator for use with any record type in FieldFX Back Office.

You can use the data grid in much of the same way you use other spreadsheet applications to sort, filter, and edit records.

  • The records in the data grid are sortable by a single column.

  • The records in the data grid are filterable by most columns.

  • Keyboard shortcuts streamline navigation and data entry in the data grid.

  • Most cells displayed are individually editable.

In addition, the functionality of data grid enables you to:

  • Quickly see which displayed custom fields cannot be edited

  • Select the parent record and have all of the child records selected, as well

  • Apply a stage pricing amount to the selected items

  • Bulk edit strings and numeric, pick-list, and look-up fields

Accessing the FXL Data Grid

  1. Access FieldFX Back Office

  2. Switch to the Lightning Experience

  3. Access the list of records for which the Data Grid is activated.

    Example

    You want to manage price book item records.

    1. From your Home page, click Price Books

      Field FX Back Office Price Books tab
    2. Click the price book

  4. Review the records presented by the data grid.

Sorting Records in the FXL Data Grid

The records in the data grid are sortable by a single column.

Example

You want to sort the price book records in the data grid by Pricing Method.

  1. Click the PRICING METHOD column heading to sort the records in ascending order.

    The Ascending icon displays next to the column heading.

  2. If you want to sort in descending order instead, click the PRICING METHOD column heading again.

Filtering Records in the FXL Data Grid

Records displayed in the data grid are filterable by columns, excluding look-up and date columns.

Filtering can be layered so you can drill down to the specific data you need.

Example

You want to filter the price book records in the data grid by PRICING METHOD. Then you decide you want to add another layer of filtering using PRICE.

The filter icons in the PRICING METHOD and PRICE columns heading indicate both columns can be filtered.

  1. Click the filter button to access the filter window specific to PRICING METHOD

  2. Select the Filter Operator

  3. Enter the Filter Criteria

  4. Complete any other available or required fields

  5. Click Create Filter

    The Filters message confirms the records are sorted by Pricing Method.

  6. Click the filter button to access the filter window specific to PRICE

  7. Repeat steps 2–5

    The Filters messages confirm the records are sorted by Pricing Method and, in a second layer of filtering, also by Price.

Navigating in the FXL Data Grid with Keyboard Shortcuts

  • FXL Data Grid accepts the following keyboard shortcuts for inline navigation.

Move right to the next cell in a row or to the first cell in the next row

Shift+Tab

Move left to the next cell in a row or to the last cell in the previous row

Move up to the previous cell in a column or in a drop-down selection menu for a cell

Move down it to the next cell in a column or in a drop-down selection menu for a a cell

Enter

Access a cell editor a and exit the cell editor

Alt+Shift+C

Discard unsaved changes to a record

Alt+Shift+S

Save changes to a record

Editing Data in the FXL Data Grid

You can update an editable cell within the FXL Data Grid.

There are several ways for you to access a cell to make edits.

  • Double-click the cell with your mouse.

  • Select the cell with your mouse and begin typing.

  • Select the cell with your mouse and press Enter.

  • Navigate to the cell using keyboard shortcuts and begin typing.

  • Navigate to the cell using keyboard shortcuts and press Enter.

Updating an Editable Cell

  1. Access the cell

  2. Edit the contents of the cell

  3. Save the changes to the cell by clicking out of it after making changes or pressing Enter.

Updating the Record in the FXL Data Grid

  1. Edit the applicable cell(s) in the record

  2. When you are finished editing, save your changes

Saving Edits in the FXL Data Grid

When you are finished updating cells and records, click Save Changes to commit all your active edits to their respective records.

If you click Discard Changes, you will lose all unsaved edits. This action cannot be undone.
