Equipment Planning
Introduction
Equipment Planning in FieldFX Schedule and Dispatch allows dispatchers and planners to assign (dispatch) equipment to jobs and then carry that equipment forward into tickets and reporting. The feature is specifically designed to manage which equipment is planned for a job and when it is scheduled to be used.
When equipment is dispatched to a job using Equipment Planning, FieldFX supports two primary outcomes:
-
The dispatched equipment can be added to tickets associated with the jobs.
-
Equipment planning data can be referenced in reports using the
FX5__Equipment_Planning__cobject.
Prerequisites
To setup and use Equipment Planning, you need to:

How Equipment Planning Works
At a high level, Equipment Planning works as a two‑step planning and execution model:
-
Equipment is planned at the job level
Equipment is first associated with a job by creating Equipment Planning records. This defines what equipment is expected and the date range during which it is needed. -
Planned equipment is then added to tickets
Once equipment is planned for a job, it can be pulled into tickets (either in Back Office or Mobile), ensuring ticket‑level accuracy and consistency with the job plan.
This separation allows equipment to be planned once at the job level and reused across one or more tickets.
|
When you add a Contact (crew member) or a piece of equipment to a Job from the declarative Crew Planning section or Equipment Planning section on the Job page, FieldFX automatically copies the Job’s planned start date and planned end date to the new Crew Planning or Equipment Planning record. If a specific crew member or piece of equipment is only planned for part of the Job’s date range, you can edit the planned start and end dates on the respective planning record after it is created. |
Reporting with Equipment Planning
Planned equipment can be included in reports by referencing the FX5__Equipment_Planning__c object in FieldFX Report Templates.
